Measuring a gargantuan 4′-0″ x 6′-11″, this poster contains 1938 individual photographs of things around Tokyo: signage, typeography, roadworks, and most of all, characters. Characters are everywhere and there’s a character for everything!
The idea of this poster is to capture the feeling of Tokyo without taking pictures of people or scenes. In other words, can I use lots of little pictures to show the big picture? It’s random details that make up the city, details that are colourful and interesting, but from a distance become a mass of gray. Looking at this poster you get a sense of the details that make up the city, but standing back you see the colourless randomness that is Tokyo.
Yes, prints are available for purchase on heavyweight, archival photo paper.
